Where EARTH meets AIR

Iron and Stone

Via Ferrata <VEE-uh Feh-RAH-tuh>

Italian for “iron Path”

The bridge between hiking and mountaineering. Via Ferrata is a vertical passage integrated into the ancient granite of the Lynn Canal. Using fixed Steel rungs and modern safety anchors, guests learn to navigate vertical faces and exposed spans once reserved only for expert climbers—all while remaining tethered to the mountain under the guidance of our professional team.

ALPINE STANDARDS // Utilizing a redundant, multi-point connection system that ensures a constant, secure link to the climbing route throughout the entire ascent.

ALPIN TRADITION // Steeped in a century-old Italian heritage, this style of climbing provides a gateway to explore vertical terrain safely and intentionally.

PROFESSIONAL RIGGING // Constructed to meet international EN, UIAA and CE mountaineering hardware specifications.

EXPOSURE // A fully managed climbing environment, designed to provide participants with an immersive, skill-building experience in Alaskan terrain.

OUR ROOTS: Locally Owned. Family Operated.

We do this because we love this landscape and believe this experience is pure, unadulterated joy. Halutu Sky Walk is built by Alaskans who are here for the long haul. We are a family-operated outfit with roots in the Taiya Inlet; when you climb with us, you aren’t just a number in a rotation—you’re a guest in our backyard.

Our guides are career professionals who raise their families here, bringing a level of authentic local knowledge that only comes from Alaskan residency. We aren’t a corporate branch, and this isn’t a seasonal tour staffed by transient students. We commit to hiring local talent for every aspect of our operations, ensuring your experience is genuine and that every dollar of your tour revenue stays right here in our community. Thank you for supporting a family-owned operation.

By immersing yourself in this experience, you’re directly investing in the future of the place we call home.

Stay in the loop

We are currently building the Sky Walk in the Taiya Inlet and we’d love to have you join us for the ride.

Whether you’re a local who wants to help us test the route or a future visitor planning a trip to Haines/Skagway, drop your info below and we’ll reach out when we’re ready for guests.
